How do JWs Not see how barbaric YHWH is? Its what started my awakening.
by BU2B inif one reads genesis from the first chapter through the end with an open mind, it is clear that not only is it not true, but that god is potrayed as a cruel, petty, childish micromanaging tyrant.
if one continues reading the ot this is just further solidified.
how do jws not see the obvious?

a watcher wrote Jehovah had to be tough with early mankind. They were hard-headed and hard-hearted.
But with the new covenant, Jehovah showed His loving side in the person of His son Jesus.
It's a lot easier to be a Christian than it was to be a Hebrew.
So is that why jehovah killed many infants, women, and made some virgens who were not killed into concubines?

"Writing . . . is a lonely life."
by compound complex in"writing, at its best, is a lonely life.
organizations for writers palliate the writer's loneliness but i doubt if they improve his writing.
he grows in public stature as he sheds his loneliness and often his work deteriorates.

Probably he was an inspiration for that lunatic Salinger.

Hey guys, I am looking for a passage in the OT, it's in one of the first five books in which (I am sure I did not imagined reading this) god gets angry so one of the soldiers scared of Jehovah's possible wrath stabs a pregnant women with his sword from her vagina.

The yuk factor and others
by jgnat inwill you share with me an interesting discussion on what morals we all may have in common?
my recent reading has resulted in a fundamental shift in my worldview.
it feels like my house of cards have reshuffled themselves yet again, and everything i see, hear and smell is put in a new context.

Hi jgnat, I happen to recently read regarding retribution with is aggregated to subjective moral values, there isn't really that much reading material even among philosophers, I read The Moral Landscape by Sam Harris and The Righteous mind by Jonathan Haith.
Religion likes to impose a static form of morals even though they have been overwritten by the New Testament, but regarding the scientific community it all boils down to the old philosophical argument - nature or nurture, that is is it old traits we evolved from? (like fight or flight tendencies when we were cavemen and cavewomen) or is it in relation to our upbringing due to our religions, secular or atheist parents?
If you start to compare us to other animals expects correlations, tribalism, sexual gratification and the need for new life, yet we are social animals and conscience of our own limitations.

Heart vs Mind - What Makes Us Human
by ballistic inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01kpvj1/heart_vs_mind_what_makes_us_human/.
i was watching this bbc iplayer programme on heart and mind, (which is well worth a watch if you can access where you are).
and despite how the programme starts out, it develops into a deep and touching discussion of what makes us human.. i personally was left with the feeling at odds with what i believed as a witness.
